This May, I sold ownership of the WordPress Ajax Event Calendar plugin to AppSumo; they have taken over maintenance and support via the WordPress forum. I created the community calendar plugin in 2011, for a local AIA (architecture) organization, and later that year, released it into the wild as open source for the WordPress community. Over the years it evolved to accommodate a range of customization options, including localization for over 22 countries. I am grateful that my first experiment in the WordPress domain was met with such enthusiasm.
My experiment would not have been possible without the WordPress framework or its vibrant community, and would not have been a success without the small businesses and various organizations (including Occupy Wall Street) that challenged me to make it a better product – I thank you for your engagement and encouragement.
